ohh baby! when we finally ventured out into the garden after the cold grey winter there were still 5 salad kale plants that had gotten pretty big in our raised beds (maybe 12 inches tall or so). i couldn't bring myself to put them into the compost, so i threw 2 of them in pots and i put the other 3 in the front bed in front of the window. over the past couple months they have bolted & flowered & blooooooomed.

it has been SO cool, the ones in front of the house have gotten so tall (6'-7'!!!) that the yellow flowers now fill the front window. the second coolest thing about them is that they are now making their seed pods. long skinny pods filled with seeds! super cool!
