gummy

it's been a hard week or 2, or 3. yesterday i had to run a bunch or errands: home depot, ikea, grocery store (on a hopeless quest for boar's head bratwurst), michael's, and i was having a really cranky & sad day. while i was standing in line at michael's, which as my first stop, there was an entire row of assorted candy by the checkout. i don't eat a lot of candy, so i was scanning the offerings and thinking maybe what candy would cheer me up a little...what kind of candy did i want?

i settled on gummy bears, i thought of them as not too sweet, soft & chewy...perfect. when i ripped open the bag and started chewing i realized they weren't so fresh. so they were chewy, but not so soft...the soft is the best part. on top of that it was REALLY cold yesterday so that was making them even LESS soft & MORE hard and thoroughly unpleasant to eat. but i was determined to figure out a way to make them enjoyable.

i held them in my warm little paw hoping to soften them up. sadly, my extremities weren't all that warm either, the gummy bears we not any more satisfying, but i still couldn't stop eating them anyway. determined, i thought the warmest part of my body, where i could stuff a gummy bear to warm up was in my bra. so, i took a fistful of gummy bears and stuffed them in my bra.

all the while i am still running my errands. after 10 or 15 minutes (probably less, i'm not very patient) i figured my gummies should be soft & chewy, so i fished them out of my bra. they were ok, but still not what i wanted. this whole thing made my cranky day even crankier...until i went to take a shower that night. i got undressed, got into the shower and was basking in the delicious hot water. when i looked down at the bottom of the tub and there was one single yellow gummy bear which apparently i had missed.

this made me laugh really really hard. i was laughing at the ridiculousness of stuffing gummy bears in my bra to begin with, and that there was one lonely bear that got stuck to my body and was washed off in the shower. i really needed a good laugh just then too.
