prequel and day one

prequel

it was an incredibly exhausting stress filled crazed 3 days. monday, tuesday and wednesday were all spent feverishly packing, running last minute errands and selling our car. wednesday was the roughest day, we needed to be as close to 100% packed as possible and we were only about 90% there when we fell into bed exhausted that night.

thursday morning we were up at 6 and got busy tying up all the loose ends. the movers showed up at around 10. josh and i and the two movers stuffed 5 door to door containers over 6 hours (i am covered with bruises and scrapes, and i must have climbed/descended a thousand stairs over the course of the day). after the movers left we had to organize everything that was going to go into the car and do a quick sweep/clean of the house. we petered out at about 7, went over to josh's parents for dinner and then went back to stage everything that we would need to loaded into the car in the morning, and then we went back to paul and laura's for much needed sleep.

on friday we were up early again. laura made a delicious pot of oatmeal and then we drove over to the house one last time. we packed up the car, and then we had a snuggle in our kitchen while we reminiced about all the good food we cooked and ate there, and then we shut the door behind us. we had closing at 1pm, went to the bank, picked up $ from the record thief where josh sold his old record collection from his college days, shipped 3 boxes of clothes that didn't fit in the car to seattle, mailed some stuff at the post office, had a nap, and then we went to caffette for fried chicken and mashed potatoes and chocolate cake (insert theo's voice "big cake"). long day. we stayed up chatting with paul and laura while we digested our big dinner and then we passed out.

this morning was last minute stuffing the car with odds and ends, josh installed all the air conditioners for laura and paul, and then we all had a stinky fish breakfast at dorothy's house. YUM!! we had some teary hugs and kisses in the driveway and we were on the road by 12:30.

we drove approximately 6 hours, and made it to akron, ohio. there was nothing of note to report about our drive. it was nice and sunny and the trees were pretty.

we just returned from eating some bad mexican food (with a bohemia and a shot of sauza) and now we are back in the hotel room web geeking.

i am so tired, in the morning we head for ann arbor and then st. joseph.

jak trying to order his margarita

jak: i'll have a medium margarita, up
waitress: frozen or on the rocks?
jak: like, in a glass...
waitress: i know, frozen or on the rocks?
jak: i'll just have a shot and a beer.

thank god that wasn't followed by:

waitress: coors lite or bud lite?

There might have been blood spilled in lonely ol' Akron...
