music from the jet city

i am getting NOTHING done today, bouncing around from one half finished project to the next. the list of things i probably SHOULD be doing is overwhelming. this morning i was compelled to download the echo & the bunnymen album ocean rain. while listening to it i was overwhelmed with the memory of being about 14 and listening to KJET. when i googled KJET (because, i wasn't sure if the call letters were KJET, or KJTT) i discovered this:

which i have to say is TOTALLY blowing my mind. talk about a blast from the past..it's an online radio station (click on the KJET logo) that features the music of the station's first few years (1980-1985), they even play the old id's and even some actual radio segments. i have a feeling that this discovery is going to trigger some more itunes purchases. i hit play and was immediately rewarded with:

laurie anderson language is a virus
nina hagen new york new york
human league don't you want me
bow wow wow see jungle!
nena 99 red balloons

...as if i needed any more reasons to feel nostalgic and homesick

flashbacks to the 80's make me feel other things... mostly resembling nausea. Echo & the Bunnymen were clear faves though... minimalist genius?
