i got really excited at penzeys spices today. they just opened one up the street from us & i had never heard of them before.

it was very exciting, they have one of every kind of spicy herby thing there. they even had szechuan peppercorns, and an assortment of beautiful soft fresh looking dried chilies
i bought some guajillos and some anchos, even though we have quite a few dried chiles in stock already here at chez roquefort (it might be time for some turkey chili AND some fish stew) they have 6, count 'em SIX different kinds of cinnamon, including "extra fancy vietnamese cinnamon".

all kinds of amazing things to smell. it was intoxicating.
