it was REALLY good, and even though it was a pain in the ass the strain the stuff, there are only a few ingredients & that was the longest step. it made an amazing rich delicious soup. i made it with fish, and didn't bother with the shell fish. so far i have made it with snapper or tuna. this became a popular item in our house, i think i made it 3-4 times over the course of a few weeks.
based on this good experience i decided to go ahead and buy everyday mexican. and i have been working my way through it ever since. there have been hits and misses, but i have definitely added a few new items to my repertoire. i am getting very close to wanting to try my hand at the making of the fresh corn tortillas. you can not buy good corn tortillas around here, so i always use flour ones.
it's really nice to have the ability to make some unique mexican style flavors (since philly is definitely lacking in the latino cuisine department). cooking with chile's can seem a little intimidating, but it is really very simple and yummy. i currently have some accidentally made chili oil in the fridge.

i'm not sure what to do with (but i want to think of something) as well as some chili dressing that i was thinking might make an interesting facsimile of papas bravas (like a fried potato with mayo/aoili and chile sauce)
